Our programs team had a fantastic visit to Nikolsk Our programs team had a fantastic visit to Nikolski this week! They  hosted a productive community meeting and discussed APICDA's wide range of programs. In addition, they organized an activity with the kiddos and delivered backpacks filled with new school supplies. 
APICDA greatly values the opportunity to visit our member communities and engage in meaningful conversations with residents to gather feedback, answer questions, and strengthen connections. Thanks, Nikolski, for the warm welcome!
It's a busy month for Culture Camps in the region! It's a busy month for Culture Camps in the region! As we plan for the 2024 APICDA Calendar, we would be thrilled to include a Culture Camp photo composite page that showcases the vibrant spirit of these events. In addition to this special request, APICDA is always grateful to receive submissions of fishing photos, scenics, and images of community life. The Aleutian Marketplace is delighted to announce The Aleutian Marketplace is delighted to announce that Wells Fargo has made a significant contribution to the 2024 Micro Grant program. We are grateful for Wells Fargo's continued partnership in the Aleutian Marketplace initiative, aimed at fostering economic growth in the region and providing resources for small businesses. Their ongoing support has allowed the Aleutian Marketplace to make investments in numerous regional businesses and offer a range of educational webinars and workshops focused on small business development. 

As we gear up for the launch of the 2024 program in January, we encourage you to join us in supporting the entrepreneurs who have received grants in 2022 and 2023. This competitive undergraduate college scholarship is open to residents of the APICDA CDQ communities of Akutan, Atka, False Pass, Nelson Lagoon, Nikolski, and St. George, and the Aleutian region communities of Adak, Cold Bay, King Cove, Sand Point, and Unalaska. The Haginaa Kidul (Helping to Grow) regional college scholarship applications are due Thursday, JUNE 1, at 5:00 PM. This competitive undergraduate college scholarship is open to residents of the APICDA CDQ communities of Akutan, Atka, False Pass, Nelson Lagoon, Nikolski, and St. George, and the Aleutian region communities of Adak, Cold Bay, King Cove, Sand Point, and Unalaska.

The Emil Berikoff Sr. Memorial Scholarship (EBMS) application deadline is Monday, JULY 3, at 5:00 p.m. This scholarship supports APICDA community residents who are enrolled in traditional, in-person classes on campus and online classes in their home communities.

In fact, the EMBS was named in honor of Julieanne’s grandfather, Emil Berikoff, Sr., who served on the APICDA board for 15 years prior to his passing in 2011. Did you know that Dr. Michele Yatchmeneff from Fal Did you know that Dr. Michele Yatchmeneff from False Pass received an APICDA undergraduate scholarship? Today, she is the Executive Director for Alaska Native Education & Outreach and an Associate Professor of Engineering at UAA. We're very proud to have assisted Dr. Yatchmeneff on her educational journey! APICDA has a long history of providing training and scholarship opportunities to prepare community members for jobs, skill development, and career advancement.

The priority deadline to apply for a paid summer A The priority deadline to apply for a paid summer APICDA internship is March 15, just one month away! Youth (14-18) and Emil Berikoff Sr. Memorial Scholarship recipients who complete an internship  also earn the WIN Scholarship. New in 2023! APICDA is hosting a WINTER version of New in 2023! APICDA is hosting a WINTER version of our Photo Contest. This is in addition to our traditional Photo Contest that ends in September, thus allowing two chances to be featured in  publications and earn prize money. APICDA would like to capture more winter images and holiday events that may be easier to access/submit for participating photographers if they don't need to wait until September to find and enter them.

A wide range of items are covered for commercial fishing and subsistence harvesting, including fuel; bait; gear; personal protective gear; the purchase and repair of vessels, skiffs, and ATVs; materials for constructing or maintaining fish preservation structures for subsistence harvesting; and the shipping costs associated with approved items.
