Training & Education

APICDA’s Training and Education program provides community residents with scholarship, training and internship opportunities. The Training and Education program plays a vital role in APICDA’s employment goals. APICDA offers scholarship programs to supplement community members’ training and education goals. The program enables APICDA residents to qualify for jobs in-region that may otherwise be filled by non-CDQ residents.

EMIL BERIKOFF, SR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Higher Education Scholarships for students pursuing a college degree, full or part-time, at a college or university.

SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship program designed for APICDA community residents who are looking for supplemental funding to receive certificate or vocational training.

SCHOLARSHIP FORGIVENESS GUIDELINES
This program offers forgiveness to students who default in an APICDA scholarship program. The purpose is to encourage students and those who have defaulted in the past to return to school or seek vocational training and to consider APICDA as a funding source and possible employer.

STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM
This program is for students who have pursued their doctorates or master’s degree, and were enrolled in their degree program on Jan.1 or later.  The Student Loan Repayment Program repays a specific dollar amount (up to $5,000.00 per year) of a graduate student’s loan as long as the program requirements are met.

SCHOOL GRANT PROGRAM
APICDA provides grants to schools within its region for programs and projects focused on Alaskan Fisheries.

EMPLOYMENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
An internship program that offers valuable work experience through internships with community members.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
An internship program tailored to assist college students, who are recipients of the Higher Education Scholarship program, in finding summer internship opportunities.

YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
An internship program that offers youth valuable work experience through internships with community members.

LEAD: ALEUTIANS
Connecting our region’s communities and generations by improving communication and encouraging future leaders and new ideas.

EMPLOYMENT
APICDA offers various employment opportunities in the region, within its administrative offices or fishing partners.

COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER PROGRAM
CLOs are representatives of APICDA working and living in one of the seven APICDA communities.  CLOs are available to assist both current and previous residents with the programs listed above.
